WRITE A BIOGRAPHY OF A STAR

TAYLOR SWIFT

Taylor Swift is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania in 1989. She moved to New York and finally she moved to Tennessee.

Taylor became interested in musical theatre at the age of nine. She performed in many Breks Youth Theatre Academy productions and travelled regularly to Ney York for vocal and acting lessons in 1998. After that, she stayed in Tennessee at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in country music in 2003.

She did a lot of music albums. Three of his most famous CDs are: Red, Fearless and Speak now. Her new album 2012 is called "Red".

WRITE ABOUT A PIECE OF ART

The Maids of Honour

The Maids of Honour was painted by Diego Velázquez in 1656. It is an oil canvas painting and it shows a large room in the Royal Alcazar of Madrid and presents several figures of the Royal family a part of other person. Velázquez includes in the scenery a portrays of himself working at a large canvas. This is what caught my attention.

This type of work is typical of portrait, an art movement which started in Egypt in the fifth century. The portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant.

The Maids of Honour was first exhibited in 1819 because it was donated to the Prado Museum of Madrid, where it is now kept. If anyone wants to buy it now, is valued by 60.000 royals.

POST A COMMENT ON AN INTERNET FORUM

IS INTERNET ADDICTION REALLY A PROBLEM?

In my opinion, I think that internet addiction makes people be out of studies and work. They spend more time in internet, I think more than they should and it makes them lose the time doing things that are useless.

For finally, I think it makes them less interested and be really disconnected of reality on real life and they don't enjoy talking with other people. They only enjoy when they are in a room, alone with a computer because they have a virtual life and they make social things online, chat online... not on their own real life but they can also feel alone and have more reasons to “live online”.

In addition, I think the internet is more addictive than TV. Anyway, in my experience people can be obsessive about everything.

WRITE ABOUT AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM

TRAFFIC PROBLEM

I'm writing because I was at Barcelona city with some friends last weekend and the amount of pollution which we saw in the sky was unbelievable. I take one photo, the sky was grey...

I think there are one or two reasons for this. Firstly, people use cars of fuel and this produce a lot of pollution, which is bad for the atmosphere. Secondly, there are many factories which produce combustible gases and that is bad for the atmosphere too.

We must do something about this situation. Maybe there isn't much pollution in other places. I don't know, but we must definitely do something here if we want to stop the pollution.

WRITE A REVIEW OF A BOOK OR FILM

WIND FROM THE NORTH

I'd like to recommend a book which I read recently, in the “book club”, called “Wind from the north”. The author of the book is Daniel Glattauer.
The book is about a beautiful and romantic story by e-mails. The main characters are two adults. Emmi and Leo Leike. Who meet because Emmi send an email by mistake to Leo and there after started talking more and more until one can no longer live without the other.

The things I liked most about the book were the characters and the theme of the relationship has been established between the two characters it seems impossible from a mistake can create something like this.

All in all, I really liked the novel, but it has an unexpected ending that leaves you wanting to read the next book, I wouldn't change it. It's an easy book to read, but it's still got a strong message.

CRASH

FILM 2: CRASH

A Brentwood housewife and her DA husband.
A Persian store owner. Two police detectives who are also lovers.
An African-American TV director and his wife.
A Mexican locksmith. Two carjackers. A rookie cop.
A middle-aged Korean couple...
They all live in LA. and during the next 36 hours, they will all collide.

STEP 1: THE TITLE: CRASH

The introductory monologue pretty much summarizes most of what happens in this movie. People in L:A: move back and forth in their cars, without any kind of human contact. They need to collide in order to make that necessary human contact everybody needs...

WHAT DOES THE TITLE CRASH MEAN?
I think the film is called "Crash" because it focuses on cultural shocks. For this reason, the film begins with a car crash, development constantly shows friction or conflicts between races, religions and social classes, and ends in the same way it begins.

STEP 2: THE OPENING MONOLOGUE

Read the opening monologue.

Graham has just crashed.
The car is now stopped.
This is what he says:
“It's the sense of touch. Any real city, you walk, you know?, you brush
past people.
People bump into you.
In L.A., nobody touches you.  We're always behind this metal and glass.
I think we miss that touch so much that we crash into each other just so
that we can feel something.”

Discuss the meaning of his words.

STEP 3: WRITING A SUMMARY
Write down the characters' names and the different stories in the film.
Elizabeth, Jean Cabot, Lucien, Daniel, Christine Thayer, Cameron Thayer, Officer John Ryan, Det. Graham Waters, Officer Tom Hansen, Lt. Dixon, Ria, Flanagan, Rick Cabot, Anthony, Peter Waters, Daniel Ruiz, Farhad, Dorri, Shaniqua Johnson, Fred, Shereen.
The different stories in the film are:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
STEP 4: WRITING THE  STORY
4.1.Write a summary about one of the stories.
Corean offender and the couple of robbers:

History of African American offenders. Steal the car after the district, in their flight run over a Chinese smuggler who carried illegal people. They will also try to steal the car producer
television but the owner confronts them and fail to achieve their objective. One of the robbers is killed at the end of the film by a policeman and the other, when he discovers that the goods that the Chinese man carries were illegal and immigrant people, decides to save them.
4.2.Describe the characters:

The characters are: The Chinese offender and the couple of robbers.
How do they look like?
They are a couple of robbers and one Chinese offender.
What's his/her personality? naïve, responsible, ambitious...
They are a couple of thieves, so they are bad people and ambitious but their personality changes throughout the film.
What's the relationship between them? mother-son, husband-wife...
The two thieves are friends but the Chinese offender that they killed was a totally unknow person for they.
How do they feel at the beginning?
At the beginning they feel good because they did that they must do, rob the car, but when they run overed the Chinese man they feel concerned about what they had done.
How do they react in the story?

Do they change? Why? Why not?
Yes, the robber that suvervie when he discovers that the goods that the Chinese man carries were illegal and immigrant people, decides to save them so he became a good person.
STEP 5: CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Choose one character you like

I choose the blond police officer called Tom Hansen.

ORAL PRESENTATION

Hi, today I'm going to talk about the film "Oblivion". It's an American film directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by the famous actor Tom Cruise this last year (2013). It's a post-apocalyptic science fiction film based in the strory when someone takes us to a future Earth that has evolved beyond unrecognizable. There, a man called Jack Harper confronts the past and takes part to save the human race. He's one of the lasts mechanics of planes who survives. It is part of a massive operation. But Jack's mission comes to an end. He patrols all the territory until he rescues a beautiful unknown girl from a broken ship. This makes him to see that the human race will end up in his hands.

I choose this topic because I've seen this film one month ago and I liked it very much. I think it's a very good film and I'd like to recommend it to all of you.
